  "Through its Constitution Review Committee (CRC), the Senate is advancing constitutional amendments aimed at strengthening governance, the rule of law, and human rights in Nigeria. Under the 6th Constitution Alteration process, the CRC has finalized several human rights-related bills and is awaiting voting on proposals concerning bill to strengthen constitutional protection of rights; Bill to expand access to justice and constitutional remedies; and Bill to enhance protection of vulnerable groups. The on rule of law, the Committee is also finalizing key governance and judicial reform bills, including measures to restrict and streamline appeals to the Supreme Court, strengthen timelines and procedures for election petitions, and improve judicial administration and efficiency. The Senate is also finalising bills on separating the legal fate of governors and deputy governors regarding qualification and disqualification; Bill to remove certain executive law-making powers; and Bill to strengthen institutional checks and balances.
